Audit your Distractions...

Why are you reading this right now? Should you be doing something else? Is there a time consuming task that you are "taking a break" from to read this?

This past weekend, I spent 2 days with 2 nationally recognized sales men, a med student going into residency, and licensed professional architect. I learned lots about vastly complex world of insurance, building enormous buildings with teams of over 2000 people, and medicine in our quickly charging health market. All have a common barrier:
how to get the most accomplished in the shortest amount of time (yes, even doctors are in a hurry, topic for another day).
Distractions evolve over time. The more driven you are the faster you learn and find new information to absorb and process. So fast that distractions can decrease your efficiency.
What does this look like?
Its Monday, a fresh week, a chance to give your short term goals a big kick in the gut, and you are feeling pumped. You check your email...a simple task right? You have 20 emails that instantly start dictating your to do lists for the day/week.
You are now distracted from the most important tasks.
Consider checking our email after we get started on the important tasks? We don't believe it, but most emails can wait a few hours, but the most important work on the future of your team, organization, or company cannot wait another second.
Get busy and audit your distractions.
